The last Sunday in April is designated Mother Father Deaf Day. This is a day that codas around the world acknowledge and celebrate our deaf parents. Many local groups and deaf parent groups with young KODAs (Kids of Deaf Adults) will plan picnics and other events.

Here are some ideas of activities to celebrate MFD Day:

• Share family photos
• Display and use/wear conference t-shirts, cups, yearbooks, etc.
• Display a collection of books and movies about codas or written/created by codas
• Organize a panel discussion about “what CODA means to me”
• Watch a video or DVD made by codas or about codas
• Share a funny experiences about being a coda, having deaf parents, or dealing with hearing people who did not understand our families
• Have a coda sign a song
• Share with the group why you are proud to be a coda
• Have deaf parents share their experiences raising hearing children
• Bring a potluck dish that was a family favorite. 
• Draw a picture or make a collage about being a coda
• Make Mother-Father-Deaf Day cards to give to deaf parents
